Built Together, From the Ground Up

Nic and Lacey understand the value of getting hands-on and building something meaningful — together.

Since 2001, they've been side by side — first navigating life as a heavy equipment operator and a restaurant server while raising Nic’s son.

In 2008, Nic’s leap into the business world opened new doors, sparking opportunities they never imagined, fostering a deeper appreciation for living with intention and simplicity.

Today, whether it’s growing food, designing homes, or pursuing fresh ideas, they keep showing up — driven by purpose, creativity, and a deep commitment to what matters most.

    Nic Arters

    Farm-Fresh Facilitator

As the director of an international import/export consulting firm, Nic is well-versed in navigating complex global logistics. But his true passion has always been the land. With a family history rooted in farming and equipment that dates back to the 1800s, Nic has always been drawn to the outdoors and working with his hands. After stepping away from the job site for his career, he and Lacey made the decision to return to their farming roots, starting the small farm they now call home.

On the farm, Nic is involved in many aspects — from excavation and setting up drip irrigation to harvesting crops and managing the daily produce wagon. If you can’t find him, he’s likely out back with Pablo, tackling whatever project needs attention next.

    Lacey Arters

    Head of Growing Things

Lacey is the founder of Arters Design, an award-winning custom home design firm known for creating timeless spaces. With a passion for design and nature, she brings that same intentionality to the farm she and Nic built together.

Raised near Amish Country in Wooster, Ohio, Lacey’s childhood with her grandparents—whose Depression-era values and farming roots shaped her—sparked her love for growing things from seed. Today, she’s the driving force behind the farm’s crops and sustainability efforts.

When she’s not working on new designs, you’ll likely find her outdoors, tending to the gardens alongside their tractor-loving cat, Pablo.

    Pablo Emilio

    Sustainability Director

Adopted in October 2021, Pablo went from being an abandoned stray to becoming an integral part of life at Arters Acres. Though he’s technically the Sustainability Director, his true calling lies in being the ultimate personal guard cat, ensuring that no one (and nothing) goes unnoticed.

On any given day, Pablo can be found keeping a watchful eye on the neighbors, making sure the property is as secure as possible. When he’s not doing that, he’s taking charge of his own routine—waking up the family at all hours of the night, pawing at doors, and generally running the show. Despite his demanding schedule, Pablo loves the farm life, and his quirky antics are what make him an irreplaceable part of the team.
